Together, We Are Indivisible!
A message from Leni...
Like many of us, my activism was activated after the 2016 election. In 2017, I co-founded Indivisible Illinois, a statewide group following the principles of the Indivisible guide to defend our democracy, and Indivisible IL9 – Andersonville-Edgewater right here in the 48th ward.
Over the past six years, I am proud of the work that we have done together, as you can see from the photos in this email.
Together, we have we have registered thousands of voters; fought for bodily autonomy and gun violence prevention; championed ordinances like Treatment Not Trauma and ECPS; helped progressive candidates like Lauren Underwood and Hoan Huynh get elected; and much, much more.
I am proud that these Indivisible groups have both voted to endorse me because they have worked with me, they know what I am capable of, and they understand the power of having progressives like me represent all of us in government.
Since endorsing, Indivisible Illinois has raised over $1100 and Indivisible IL9 has raised over $600.
Additionally, the Indivisible IL9 weekly Antiracist Work Group that I co-founded in 2020 is currently $100 shy of its $1000 fundraising goal (can you help them get there?)
When elected, I will be the first queer woman of color to represent the 48th ward and the first Filipina in Chicago’s 185 year history to sit on City Council. The immensity of that honor is not lost on me.
The subject line of this post is “Together, we are indivisible,” and that doesn’t only refer to the Indivisible organization – when community works together, we truly are indivisible.
Please take a look at our Vision for the ward on my campaign website — we are adding more content to that page every day. If you see something that you think is missing, drop me a line.
YARD SIGNS ARE HERE!
I’m thrilled to announce that we have yard signs available for pickup after Monday, Dec 26 at our headquarters at 5301 N Clark St, 2nd floor in Andersonville (and yes, we can deliver!)
Together with my fellow Indivisibles, I have fought long and hard for campaign finance reform because the high cost of running for office excludes women (like me), people of color (like me), and anyone who is not rich enough to buy their way into office (yes, that's also me!)
And one of the expenses of campaigning is... yard signs! So please consider making a donation today to help defray the cost of your sign and, if you can pay it forward, pay for some of your neighbors' signs in the ward.
Because we're all in this together.
