Chicago, IL (March 13) - Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth, community organizer and progressive advocate, earned the endorsement of Chicago Mayoral Candidate Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson. Since the February 28th runoff election, Manaa-Hoppenworth has received endorsements from Asian American Midwest Progressives, One People’s Campaign, Illinois Nurses Associatoin and the LGBTQ+ Victory Fund. 

 "Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth is poised to make history as the first queer woman of color to represent the 48th ward and the first Filipina to serve on the Chicago City Council. Leni is a mother, community leader, and small-business owner — her deep roots in the community and her experience as a progressive activist will make her a strong alderwoman,” said Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson. 

Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth shares her official endorsement for mayor: "Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson is the only choice for Mayor of Chicago. Commissioner Johnson and I stand for Treatment Not Trauma, the Bring Chicago Home initiative, and ensuring that our most vulnerable are centered in every policy decision we make. He has been an avid supporter of the LGBTQ+ community, and I look forward to 48th ward progressive organizations, our campaign, and voters coming out and working hard to get us to the finish line and moving Chicago forward as a community with a vision of progress, equity, and equality for all." 

This key endorsement follows a series of endorsements from progressive organizations; Indivisible IL, Indivisible IL9, Chicago NOW PAC, Active Chicago Parents, the Girl I Guess Progressive Voter Guide, Vote Mama, AAMP, One People’s Campaign, Illinois Nurses Association, and LGBTQ+ Victory Fund. 

Progressive Community Organizer Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth advanced into the run-off against Housing Developer Joe Dunne in the 48th ward. The runoff municipal election will be held on April 4, 2023. Early voting begins on March 20, 2023.
