Happy AANHPI Month!

It's Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month! This week, I was happy to attend this celebratory event, hosted by Mayor Johnson at the Cultural Center. It was wonderful to connect with so many friends and call out "Happy 'Us' Month!" to one another.

As the first Filipina American to ever sit on the Chicago City Council, moments like these remind me how important representation is, in every room — "Representation matters" is not just a campaign slogan, but my lived experience. I was especially proud to see so many 48th ward neighbors and organizations represented at the event.

We are building a progressive Dem organization in the 48th ward and want all voices to be involved. 2024 is a big year and we are gearing up for November with plans to activate the 48th ward doing crucial work both here and outside of Chicago, like phonebanking for MI and WI. If you're interested in joining us, please sign up to volunteer.

As always, it take change to make change, so can you chip in to help build the organization?
