Andersonville, Chicago, IL
– Alderwoman-elect Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth for the 48th ward accepts concession from challenger Joe Dunne. “I am thankful to Joe Dunne for running a hard-fought campaign. Running for office is not easy, and I know that our families and friends had a lot to do with both of us making it to the runoff. What an incredible journey for all of us. I look forward to working with Alderman Harry Osterman to ensure we have an effective transition. I am thankful for his leadership through this time. In this historic moment, I know one thing for sure: I am ready to get to work to represent all of you!”

In his newsletter, Alderman Osterman stated, “This was a historic and pivotal week for our city and community with the election of Brandon Johnson as Mayor and Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth as Alderwoman of the 48th Ward. I want to congratulate both and wish them support, strength, and great success in their new roles leading our City and moving Chicago forward.”

Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth is the first Filipina elected to the Chicago City Council since its inception 185 years ago.
